· Diving
Although Ibiza cannot compare itself with the spectacular coral reefs of the Caribbean and Red Sea, amateurs and experienced divers find here interesting dive areas. With clear water, and 20 to 40 metres visibility Ibiza has some of the clearest waters in the Mediterranean. In the cliff coast and on the many islands offshore are uncounted caves; there are large sea grass fields of the Posidonia (between Ses Salinas of Ibiza and Formentera; they are protected by the UNESCO as a world inheritance site). They offer shelter to many fish. Antique amphoras and even shipwrecks on the sea bed are not rare.
In nearly all tourist areas diving schools offer courses for beginners and advanced divers.

• Hiking and Walking
In case you are not yet a lover of Ibiza, allow yourself to be convinced of its quieter side. Beautiful landscapes and spectacular sea views charm the walker along with the rare plants and the many birds .
The Island Council developed in the last years walking routes that pass in part along the coast, and through the pine forests of the hill chains. Maps for the "Ruta de Falcó", "Ruta des Amunts", and "Ruta dels Boscos" can be got free in the Tourist Office. There are also four books describing walking routes according to difficulty.
• Biking
With mountain bikes becoming a preferred holiday activity, Ibiza has encouraged this sport as well. Professional cyclists meet here in the low seasons to train for the Tour de France. The Island Council has prepared a pamphlet "Cicloturismo" with the description of two tours: the "Ruta de ses Planes" circa 5okm long from Santa Gertrudis over Santa Inés to San Carlos; and the "Ruta dels Torrent" from Santa Eulalia over San Rafael to Ibiza. Naturally one can ride only parts of these routes, or as an alternative one can discover the nature reserve Ses Salines by bike.
In most towns and villages are bike rentals. For a day's excursion we can recommend them. Those who want to be on the road for several days should bring their own bike. Against small charges nearly all airlines transport bikes (it is important to book in advance and to pack it thoroughly).

• Golf
To late the only golf course is at Roca Llisa on the East coast between Santa Eulalia and Jesús. In 1972 a 9 hole course was constructed, the Golf de Roca Llisa. In 1992 another 18 hole course was built and connected with the older course: the birth of the Club de Golf Eivissa. The groomed course with broad fairways and quick greens suit every level: the older course is flat, the newer poses a challenge with many handicaps. Tel: +34 971 19 61 18 Fax: +34 971 19 60 51
